Towards an holistic account on residual stresses in full-forward extruded rods

چکیده
Abstract An holistic view is attempted towards prediction of the effect residual stresses induced by full-forward extrusion on fatigue life workpieces during operation. To study constitutive model accuracy forming simulations, a combined nonlinear isotropic/kinematic hardening as well isotropic part same are calibrated based five compression-tension-compression uniaxial stress experiments. A finite element developed adapting both aforementioned plasticity models and predicted states at surface workpiece compared against that corresponding experiment. Results show predictions remarkable FE-models with model. The qualitatively studied uncoupled multiscale simulations featuring gradient crystal microscale. While effective (homogenized) macroscale response indicates elastic macroscopically cyclic loading, accompanying reduction still present microscale within, e.g. grain boundaries.

Voice Quality and f0 in Prosody: Towards a Holistic Account
This paper presents a discussion of the role of voice quality in prosody. Illustrations from past production and perception data by the authors indicate that source parameters other than f0 are an inherent part of prosody, implicated in both its linguistic and paralinguistic functions. While prosodic (intonational) analyses of a language tend to be largely presented in terms of f0 dynamics, the...
متن کاملHydrogen Assisted Cracking in Pearlitic Steel Rods: The Role of Residual Stresses Generated by Fatigue Precracking
Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of metals is an issue of major concern in engineering since this phenomenon causes many catastrophic failures of structural components in aggressive environments. SCC is even more harmful under cathodic conditions promoting the phenomenon known as hydrogen assisted cracking (HAC), hydrogen assisted fracture (HAF) or hydrogen embrittlement (HE). A common way to as...
متن کاملPlasticity Effect on Residual Stresses Measurement Using Contour Method
Residual stresses have become an important player in the field of the structural integrity for many years. Having an exact knowledge of residual stress distributions can be essential in designing the engineering components as unexpected failures are inevitable where such stresses are ignored. There are many residual stresses measurement techniques including destructive and non-destructive ones...
متن کاملResidual Stresses Measurement in Hollow Samples Using Contour Method
Residual stresses are created usually undesirably during manufacturing processes, including casting, welding, metal forming, etc. Residual stresses alone or in combination with other factors can cause the destruction and fracture of components or significant decline in their service life. Therefore, it is crucial to measure the residual stresses. Contour method is a destructive testing method c...
متن کاملAn experimental validation of residual stresses in weld clad pipelines
The nature and distribution of residual stresses are invariably critical for fatigue life with dissimilar material joints often inducing high tensile residual stresses. A fatigue-resistant concept of weld cladding process pipelines, producing compressive residual stresses, is under investigation to examine how these stresses may be influenced. Simplified weld cladding simulations have successfu...
